Last Saturday, Sarah, Rebekah, and I were craving some mountain time so we packed our backpacks and headed to Sacred Valley. We figured we could easily find a hostel when we got to Urubamba. Not so easy. We spotted a gringo from afar and ran after him to ask him for suggestions. He gave us some great advice to check out "Las Chulpas" which was on the outskirts of Urubamba, tucked away in a big garden in the mountains. We payed 150 soles ($17 each) for a suite room. We were very satisfied with our charming stay and noted to ourselves to soon return.
Sunday morning, we took a hike up a trail behind Las Chulpas. The owner's dogs, Lola and Juliet, led the way. Juliet in front and Lola as the caboose. We felt very protected and confident in our new furry friends.
